This, in turn, determines the adsorption capacity of the adsorbant, since a large internal surface can accommodate more adsorbate.

Blue silica gel turns pink when moisture capacity has been reached. Used silica gel can be discarded or reactivated by drying the silica gel beads in a microwave or conventional oven.
